Forecasters predict Storm Frank is on its way
The Environment Agency still has 9 severe flood warnings in place for the North East and North‐West. There are also 43 flood warnings for the Midlands, North‐East, North‐West and Wales.

Unprecedented Floods Hit the UK
The Environment Agency has 24 severe flood warnings in place for the North East and 104 flood warnings for the North‐East, with many residents in the North advised to evacuate their homes.

Surge Update: Christmas Weather
The Met Office® has issued a yellow warning of rain for parts of Central and South‐West Scotland.  Heavy rain is forecast for Wednesday before clearing on Christmas Eve morning. The rain will be accompanied by gale force winds, possibly reaching severe gale for a time, though easing by Christmas Eve morning.

Cumbria feels the pain of further flooding
Residents in Glenridding suffered repeat flooding after the river burst its banks for the second time yesterday.  The already devastated community faced continual rainfall as fast‐flowing water rushed through the village.  The flood water is starting to slowly recede in Glenridding.

Surge Update: Storm Desmond causes widespread flooding
The Environment Agency currently advise that there are 16 severe flood warnings in place for the North‐West.  Flood alerts are in place for the North‐East, North‐West, Wales and Scotland.

Surge Update: Storm Desmond devastates North‐West & Southern Scotland
Prolonged heavy rain caused widespread flooding in North‐West England and Southern Scotland and forced emergency services to evacuate residents from their homes.  The storms battered the country on Saturday evening and left hundreds of homes under water, thousands without power and roads destroyed.

The heaviest rainfall in over a century has caused massive flooding across the city of Chennai in India. Chennai is reeling as major floods have left many people stranded and short of supplies.  The floods have caused an erratic power supply with some areas completely in the dark.  Mobile services are also badly hit.

Surge Update: Flooding hits Cumbria & Isle of Man
The Environment Agency® has issued 23 flood warnings and 35 flood alerts for the Midlands, North‐East, North‐West and Wales as a new wave of wind and rain is set to lash parts of the UK.  The Met Office® has also issued yellow warnings urging people to remain vigilant.

Crawford Surge Update: Strong Winds, Sleet and Snow forecast More bad weather follows on from Storms Abigail and Barney
The Met Office® has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of the UK.  A band of strong winds will push south across Scotland, Northern Ireland, North, Central and Eastern England overnight Friday and into Saturday, giving gales and localised severe gales for a time, with gusts of 40‐60mph likely widely and perhaps 50‐70mph locally close to the North Sea coast.

Crawford Surge Update: Storm Abigail quickly followed by Storm Barney
The second storm strong enough to be given a name is forecast to bring winds of up to 80 mph.  The Met Office said Storm Barney is set to deliver gusts of up to 70mph inland and potentially 80mph along exposed coasts, particularly in Wales and through the Bristol Channel on Tuesday.

Crawford® Surge Update: Floods Forecast
The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings with the risk of river flooding across north England and the Midlands over the weekend. Forecasters are warning that Cumbria, Lancashire, Manchester, and North and West Yorkshire are the areas most at risk from river and localised surface water flooding on Saturday evening and into Sunday due to the ground already being heavily‐saturated.

Proclaimed by the U.S. National Hurricane Center as the ‘strongest hurricane on record’, with maximum sustained winds of an unprecedented 200 mph (320 kph), Hurricane Patricia aims at Mexico’s Pacific coast early Friday, moving north-northwest, and is forecast to make landfall in the Mexican state of Jalisco by Friday evening as a Category 5 hurricane. Jalisco, includes Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara, and adjoining states, Colima and Nayarit, will also feel the effects of expected catastrophic winds and formidable flood threat. Depending on the storm’s exact track, Manzanillo may experience destructive winds, flooding rainfall, dangerous storm surge and large, battering waves breaking onshore. Potentially, the system’s significant precipitation could affect the U.S. including Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.

Typhoon Koppu ‐ (Local Name: Lando)
This Category 4 storm badly affected Northern Luzon early on Sunday morning 18 October 2015.  Despite being a very slow moving storm, Koppu has caused heavy flooding due to prolonged and torrential rainfall. The typhoon continues to affect the country.  At its peak, sustained winds of 150 kph were reported.

Record Rainfalls in Southeastern France
Crawford & Company has mobilized its teams in France, Italy and surrounding regions after record-setting rainfall fell over Southeastern France Saturday evening, causing widespread damage to property and sadly, loss of life, with 21 people killed. Most affected areas include coastal towns between Mandelieu (5km west of Cannes) and Nice.

Crawford Market Update: Hurricane Joaquin Blasts the Central Bahamas
Category 4 Hurricane Joaquin continues to hammer the central Bahamas with 130 mph winds, storm surge flooding and torrential rain, and is expected to continue pounding the islands causing catastrophic damage through Friday. Joaquin's eyewall is hammering Samana Cays, the Acklins, Crooked Island, and Mayaguana in the central Bahamas, and is nearing Rum Cay, San Salvador and Long Island (Bahamas). Flooding from storm surge and torrential rainfall has been documented on Long Island and the Acklins.

Crawford Market Update: Typhoon Dujuan
Typhoon Dujuan was the most intense tropical cyclone of the Northern Hemisphere in 2015 according to the Central Weather Bureau. The storm brought wind gusts of up to 227km/h, and a sustained wind speed of 184km/h. Dujuan was classified as a Category 4 severe tropical storm and it landed in Nanao, Ilan of northeastern Taiwan at about 17.40 on 28 September 2015.

Crawford Market Update: Tianjin Explosion
Fires are still burning at the site of two massive explosions in the Chinese city of Tianjin.  At least 50 people died and hundreds were injured, 71 critically, in the explosions on Wednesday evening, 12 August 2015.   Our thoughts are with all those affected by this incident. The two huge explosions tore through an industrial area where toxic chemicals and gas were stored in the north‐ east Chinese port city of Tianjin.  The blast sent shockwaves through apartment blocks kilometres away in the port city of 15 million people. Internet videos show fireballs shooting into the sky.

Crawford Market Update: Typhoon Shoudelor
Crawford’s Taiwan office is responding to claims following the landfall of Typhoon Soudelor over the course of the last weekend. The storm is so far the most intense tropical cyclone to hit the Northern Hemisphere this year and struck Taiwan severely. At least 4.3m homes have been left without power; the country’s Central Weather Bureau said the storm brought with it wind gusts of up to 208km/h, and a sustained wind speed of 173km/h.

Typhoon Chan‐Hom, Taiwan
Typhoon Chan‐Hom is the first tropical storm to affect Taiwan in 2015. Classified as a Category 3 severe tropical storm, Chan‐Hom was closest to the island at 20.00, local time, on Friday 10 July, influencing the north eastern coastal counties of Ilan and Taipei.

Hailstorm hits Sydney – Crawford responds
On the afternoon of Saturday 25 April 2015 central and western Sydney was struck by a hailstorm.  The storm has caused significant damage in several suburbs and the western Sydney industrial precinct has been severely affected.  Up to 50cm of hail collected on the roof of numerous buildings including industrial complexes housing major distribution centres and factories.  In some cases buildings collapsed resulting in particularly large losses
